Penampang: Cultures & Places

I came from Sabah, well, specifically from Penampang. I totally can't accept it when some imbecile people mock or belittle my own birth-place. For one thing, we are all under the same sky, so it doesn't make sense when people said that Sabahan pople is like orang utan(they probably assumed that we still live on tree or cave or God know what they think). I mean, hey look, if you don't know other people from places you haven't ventured, don't be so rude as to say controversial and hurtful things. The only point that you're be making clear is that 1. You're an egoistic maniac and 2. You're too pride too admit that you actually jealous of others(that you mocked). So here I am, trying my best to represent my country and place that I come from. By the way, I'm just started this blogging business and will rather appreciate it if you can give feedback for improvement.
Penampang is a district as well as a small town (Penampang Proper) within the West Coast Division of Sabah, Malaysia. It has virtually become a suburb of Kota Kinabalu which is Sabah's capital. Its population was estimated to be around 132,002 in 2000, with ethnic Kadazan-Dusun as the majority.
The name penampang came from an old village within the district. The village's name in turn originates from a Kadazan word that means "big rock". This is because huge rocks were easily found within the vicinity of the village a long time ago.
The name Penampang in contemporary usage refers more often to the district, with the town of Donggongon as the main town within the district. Donggongon means 'shelter' or 'rest area' in the native Kadazan language, referring to its historical role as a stop-over for people from the hills who journeyed down the coast for trade. Other towns or sub-districts within Penampang are Putatan and Lok Kawi.
Penampang is often considered a stronghold of the Kadazan community, and the main centre for their political and cultural development. The Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) community hall hosts many of Kadazan's traditional festivities, chief among them the annual Kaamatan or 'harvest festival', their most important cultural event.
The Monsopiad Cultural Village is in Penampang. Monsopiad was the name of a past warrior who was known for decapitating the heads of his enemy and hanging the skulls at the entrance of his home, to warn his enemies of his powers.Penampang is administered by Majlis Daerah Penampang (Penampang District Council).

Kota Kinabalu view
Kota Kinabalu , formerly known as Jesselton,is the capital of Sabah state in East Malaysia. It is also the capital of the West Coast Division of Sabah. The city is located on the northwest coast of Borneo facing the South China Sea. The Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park lies on one side and Mount Kinabalu, which gave the city its name, is nearby. Kota Kinabalu proper has a population of 462,963 while the larger urban area has an estimated population of 900,000. It is the largest urban centre in Sabah and the sixth largest in Malaysia.

Interest

My major interest would be reading tons of book.. But, since I'm quite occupied with my Uni's lifestyle, I find it hard to spend my time on novels and reading material(well, mostly novel). It's such a waste actually coz' there's nothing that can give me the same pleasure as reading books.. Below are some of my private books collection:
From top-left to bottom right:
Sirensong-Jenna Black, Unearthly & Hallowed-Cynthia Hand, Guardian Gate-Michelle Zink,
Cocktails for Three-Madeleine Wickham, Tiger Curse, Tiger Quest & Tiger Voyage-Colleen Houck,
Peter Nimbles-Jonathan Auxier, The Undomestic Goddess & Remember me?-Sophie Kinsella
I've just finish reading the Tiger Voyage, the third edition in the Tiger Curse adventure recently and now will start reading Peter Nimbles as my next book. Of all the collection that I have so far, my favourite book would be the Tiger Curse saga. It packed a lot of mystery and adventure that enthrall me and make me feel alive together with its character. I must say that Colleen Houck(author of the Tiger Curse saga), really know how to weave and spin words and turn it into a great stories.
The Tiger Curse saga:
From left:
Tiger's Curse, Tiger's Quest, Tiger's Voyage
It's all about cursed tigers that actually from royal family. These stories tell the adventure of Kelsey Hayes, who had to help two brothers, both being Indian princes, in breaking a 300-year-old curse placed on them. The elder being the mysterious white tiger named Prince Alagan Dhiren Rajaram and the seductive black tiger named Prince Sohan Kisham Rajaram. My, even just by reading description bout' them make my heart flutter with delight because they're a vividly drop-dead-gorgeous and charming guys. The two brothers never really get along with each other but they can be supportive when in crisis. The saga itself is very charming, packed with historical and legends, mixed with culture belief of Indian folks.

Family

My Father

Own the highest spirit of sucess-craving among his other family member.Always thrive to be the best in fields that he serve. Come from small earning salary, he decided to change his family condition by starting to work as early as 17 years old, right after finishing his standard secondary 5 high school. Though he didn't has the qualification to hold high position in office, but, my father believe that his hardwork will eventually be paid. True enough, not only had he establish a strong connection with important people in his career, he also gain trust from his companions due to his excellent in doing his work.
My apiration for true success..

My brother and youngest sister
My brother, Jeremy,he serve under my father guidance. Had the love for machinery and even when still in primary-school, he know how to fix mechanical things such as radio and modified it. Currently working as a draftman, he quickly learn the course and know how to produce a draft in just a matter of time. If he had inspiration like father, he probably ended up in high position in his career but unfortunately, he didn't share the same enthusiasm. He only finish secondary 5, like father and directly pursue his job under my father recommedations. Though he always bring chaotic manners in the family, he still know how to learn to respect elders and be gentle to them. The way he bring himself earn him lots of friends and the elders in the family like his gentle and caring attitude towards them. My youngest sister, born on 26 March 2004, has the most cheerish attitude in the family. A constant entertainment with her sweet lil' rascal way, she quickly lighten the family mood when in despair.

My sister and younger brother
My brother, Jason, he didn't complete his high-school, he only manage to get to secondary 3 due to certain reason. He now pursue his knowledge in technical school, which he obviously enjoy rather than the standard education. His hobby would be playing computer games and he can really accelerate his progress(in games, mainly) just by observing the games itself. Even if he sometimes drive me crazy and mad with his attitude, there still part of him that really make the reliable man himself. My sister, the second in line after my brother, Jeremy, now studied in Unimas. She also take computer science and now in her 1st year. Though she is older than me, we entered uni life at the same time since I skipped secondary 6 and directly go through Matrics channel. A bit boyish for a girl, she doesn't really count people emotion and feeling when expressing something, a straightforward person, especially when dealing in financial matters. She always scold me back then, but somehow, when I reflected back on what she'd been saying, it really does make sense and in a way help me to grow mature.

Mom with both my sister
She's the apple of my eyes and the bank where we, her children deposited our tears and sadness, She's there, always soothing us when we're troubled, always support us when we down and a wise listener. Never a lie miss at her strong motherly instinct and she quickly catch up with our mischief and tantrum. Even though she's a full-time housewife, she know how to teach and educate her children. She's the best cook ever, for she knows each and everyone of us our favourite dish. She hold the family foundation strong and really is a good mother to her child.

Reynolds is known for playing the role of Michael Bergen on ABC's sitcom Two Guys and a Girl (1998–2001), Wade Wilson/Deadpool in X-MEN Origin: Wolverine, and Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in Green Lantern. He has also appeared in films such as National Lampoon's Van Wilder, Just Friends, Definitely, Maybe, The Proposal, The Change-Up, and Safe House.
I first came across with Ryan Reynolds when he starred in The Proposal together with his co-star, Sandra Bullock. The first time I set my eyes on him, I instantly had a great liking to his cheerful and happy-go-lucky attitude. I was really excited at that time, watching him breath life to his character in The Proposal.

Jensen Ackles-Hero of Supernatatural series
That's right, he is my favourite actor. The way he bring life to his character in the series "Supernatural", make me swoon head-over-heel with him even though he's a married guy. He is one of the protagonist in the Supernatural, along side with his partner Jared Padalecki.
